Sliver of a Full Moon

Indian Health Initiative Retreat

Intertribal Midwinter Social

The Association of Native Americans at Yale put together an Intertribal Social that included members across both the Yale Native community and the New Haven community. Five local drum groups plus Blue Feather Drum group performed, along with dances by senior Dinee Dorame (Ezra Stiles ’15) and alum Diza Rule (Pierson ‘13). There were also vendors, raffles, great food, round dances, a potato dance and a visit by Natives from Dartmouth!

President of the Association of Native Americans at Yale, Sebi Medina-Tayac (Davenport ‘16), with Director of the NACC, Dean Cutter, PhD. Thanks for hosting such a great event for the community!

Mohegan Sweetheart Social

A group of the Yale Native community took a trip to the annual Mohegan Social: food, potato dancing, and some heartfelt bonding.

Indigenous People’s Day

A celebration of native culture and heritage, and a dismissal of the colonial notion that Columbus “found” America.

Hawaiian Students’ Visit

The NACC was glad to host a group of high school students from Moloka’i High School. Blue Feather Drum Group performed a few songs and led a round dance. The Moloka’i High students performed a hula, and even taught us a few basic steps!

Sand Creek Massacre Vigil

In December, ANAAY and the Yale Group for the Study of Native America hosted a vigil for the joining groups across the US in a call National Day of Remembrance (November 29) for Native lives lost to genocidal violence.

Annual Christmas Party

Every year the NACC hosts a fun Christmas party with great food, LOTS of cookies, and the Yankee Swap! Who has the elusive crystal sled?

AISES Science Off

AISES and Mas Familias had a trivia competition, and cooked healthy tacos with cornbread.
