Indigenous Peoples Month

Happy Indigenous Peoples Month 2020!!!

November is Indigenous Peoples’ Month. The National Congress of American Indian writes: “The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.”

At Yale, Indigenous peoples succeed and thrive across our campus. Due to the tireless efforts of Indigenous students, faculty, and staff, Yale’s Indigenous community is known as one of the most active and involved Native communities among the top colleges in what is now known as the United States.

We hope that this year’s Indigenous Peoples’ Month will be a time for honoring these histories and contemporary efforts as well as a call to action for our allies. Educate yourself! Re-learn and un-learn!! And we hope to see you at some of our upcoming events this month!
