The Office of LGBTQ Resources is hoping to begin hosting wellness nights for POC LGBTQ+ students, especially first-years, at each of the cultural centers, in collaboration with PLs from the other cultural centers. We are hoping to have our first event at the NACC, and we will have tea, crafts, and painting.

You’re then welcome to checkout the AACC Okihiro Library collection for yourself on the 3rd floor of the AACC.

Join the 40th Anniversary Team on Friday, November 12th @6-8 PM EST to celebrate the history of our home: the Asian American Cultural Center! We will be setting up exhibitions in various rooms of the center to bring our timeline to life (featuring your favorite AACC staff as actors!) Food will be provided :)

Is race only about the color of your skin? In this talk, Dr. Ocampo, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona, focuses on Filipino Americans to show that what “color” you are depends largely on your social context. Filipino Americans are officially classified as Asian, but share many cultural characteristics with Latinos. Are they “becoming” Asian or Latino? By elevating the voices of Filipino Americans, Dr. Ocampo will discuss how their racial identities “change” depending on the communities they grow up in, the schools they attend, and the people they befriend.
